The award-winning Lightman Law Firm was founded by Douglas M. Lightman, Esq. Mr. Lightman has extensive experience in immigration law and international matters through both work and personal experience.

Mr. Lightman is a United States trained lawyer who received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School and is a member in good standing of the Bar of the State of New York and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (www.AILA.com), the world’s largest organization of immigration lawyers.

In recent years, Mr. Lightman and the firm have received a variety of accolades from legal organizations throughout the world. Mr. Lightman was selected in 2014 and 2015 as a “Rising Star” Super Lawyer in the New York Metro area by SuperLawyers.com and was selected in 2016 as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Immigration Lawyers in New York State by The American Society of Legal Advocates. In 2015, Acquisition International, based in the United Kingdom, selected Lightman Law Firm LLC as Best For Business Immigration Matters – USA as part of their Global Mobility, Immigration and Logistics Awards and in 2014 the organization selected Lightman Law firm as the Immigration Law Firm of the Year in New York as part of their Global Mobility and Immigration Awards.

On the personal end, Mr. Lightman, a proud citizen of both the United States and Canada, has had significant exposure to United States immigration law. He is the son of green card holders (permanent residents), the grandson of immigrants and an international social worker (who at one time assisted refugees resettle in foreign countries throughout the world), and the loving spouse of a recently naturalized citizen of the United States. Mr. Lightman has also traveled and studied extensively throughout the world, making stops in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

I retained Doug to file my naturalization paperwork (N-400). His legal fees were very reasonable and Doug’s office was very easy to work with. It was pretty straight-forward. Once the application was filed, they gave me heads up when an appointment or interview was coming up (like my fingerprinting appt) and what documents to take, etc. He filed my application in Feb 2018 and I just became a citizen on March 28, 2019 (in New York). I would gladly recommend Doug to others.

I used the Lightman Law Firm during my Green Card application process, and they were brilliant from start to finish. It is a daunting process, and they walked us through every step, including applying for the EAD work authorization card, and the travel exemption, right up until the interview. They had a ton of helpful advice, some of which wouldn’t be obvious unless you’ve gone through the process a bunch of times, and learn how the interviewers like to operate. Would highly recommend using them to assist with Green Card application.
